Statistics on the Supersport titles to be won

The Gaerne Spanish Round has seen an incredible first day of racing at the Circuito de Jerez, where Kawasaki have already been crowned the Manufacturers' Champion in WorldSBK. With WorldSSP and FIM Europe Supersport Cup (ESS) set to race on Sunday, more champions will be decided.

In WorldSSP, four-time reigning World Champion Kenan Sofuoglu (Kawasaki Puccetti Racing) is on track to win his fifth title. Sitting 42 points ahead in the overall standings, the Turkish rider needs to finish the race anywhere between first and eighth to take the crown, regardless of where his teammate and championship rival Randy Krummenacher finishes. Furthermore, if any Kawasaki in the category finishes in the top five, then the Japanese constructor will win the Manufacturers' Title in the WorldSSP category.

Sunday’s WorldSSP race will also play host to the final round of the FIM Europe Supersport Cup and it’s a three-way battle for the title that is sure to keep fans on the edge of their seats. Axel Bassani (San Carlo Team Italia) leads the ESS Cup by 14 points over closest rival Illia Mykhalckyk (DS Junior Team). In order for Bassani to take the crown, he needs to finish anywhere between first and fourth in the ESS results at the Gaerne Spanish Round. If he finishes fifth or lower he will need to rely on Mikhalchyk finishing off of the podium to still take the title. However if Mikhalchyk is to win the Cup, he needs to win the race and make sure Bassani doesn’t place higher than fifth.

Bassani’s San Carlo Team Italia teammate Alessandro Zaccone still has a mathematical chance at winning the title being only 18 points behind him in the overall standings. This means that if Zaccone can win the race and his teammate Bassani finishes in ninth or lower and Mikhalchyk finishes third or lower, Alessandro Zaccone can win the FIM Europe Supersport Cup.
